Hubble Telescope Slowly Falling Apart?

Earlier this week the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) on the Hubble Telescope shorted out.  While the rest of the Hubble Telescope continues to operate, this is a tough blow to take.  The ACS was a key instrument in capturing the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, which looked ~13 billion years into the history of the universe.  The next Hubble service mission is scheduled for September 2008 and is already filled so it is unlikely that the ACS will be restored.
