Those of You Who Know Me Will Find this Interesting

My wife and I just put an offer in on a house.  The offer was this:  We’ll pay full asking price for your house, provided you basically take your cloths and leave.  We’ll keep your furnishings.  The gentleman we’re buying (or trying to buy) from is in some kind of corporate executive relocation program so it just might work.  Keep your fingers crossed for us, because this gentleman has a nicely furnished home.

BTW, if you don’t know me in the real world, the above paragraph should read as blah, ba blah blah blah, blah blah ba blah.

If you normally check in here for my take on current events (why?) then I will add the following:

The recent decision to stretch deployments from 12 months to 15 months is not a good thing.  It strikes me as an admission that the Army is having a hard time keeping people from leaving once their tour is up.  It also highlights just how short sighted this administration was in their war planning.  Prior to Iraq, they would have had a much easier time expanding the Army to handle the current workload.  Now, it’s more expensive and painful for all involved.  Throw aside for a moment all arguments about the morality and advisability of this war.  This is what happens when you take someone who failed in the private sector and put him in charge of the public sector.  Yes, I’m talking about Bush.

Imus was a shithead 10 years ago, 5 years ago and last month.  Why does it surprise anyone that he was a shithead this past week?  Maybe he deserved to get canned, maybe not.  Maybe the people who hired him are more to blame.  Either way, the outrage over this from some quarters seemed a little contrived.

I’m thoroughly enjoying watching Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and the Department of Justice get raked over the coals.  In fact I’m enjoying every investigation and every subpoena.  Death to the Unitary Executive (not the actual executive, just the institution)!  Hubris has its price.

Let’s all just agree right now, once and for all.  The Duke lacrosse players ARE guilty of being pampered, racist, white assholes.  They ARE NOT guilty of rape.  The first group of charges are not crimes.

There was a time when I viewed Drew Bledsoe as the savior of my beloved new England Patriots.  Though he never quite lived up to the promise of his potential, he still gave Patriots fans some great memories and he seems like a good guy.  Congratulations on a good career Drew.

Although they’re only .500 right now, I’m feeling pretty good about my Red Sox.  Dice-K and Beckett have both had 2 good starts and Schilling bounced back nicely from a terrible season opener.  Once the bats wake up a bit more, they’ll be in good shape.
