My Very Brief Thoughts on the Presidential Election

I keep expecting to wake up and find out that it’s just a dream, that the election isn’t dead even right now.  Because the idea that nearly 50% of the country can look back at the past 8 years and say, “more of that doesn’t sound too bad.” is terrifying me.

Wages have stagnated, inflation is on the rise, 1 in 10 people have lost their homes, we’re witnessing a historic banking meltdown, we’re mired in 2 wars and the national debt has grown exponentially.  But wait there’s more, three quarters of us are a severe sickness/injury away from bankruptcy and the ranks of those working without insurance has dramatically increased.

How can people not be seeing this?  I don’t think Obama’s a cure all but for fuck’s sake, he at least seems to get that these things are happening and wants to do something about it.
